1. NAME:

Annual International All Fools' Day festival-contest. Subject in 2006 - "REAL Self-portrait".

3.BASIS:

International "REAL self-portrait" festival-contest - with continue the sequence of Bishkek All Fools' Day contests: "Chainik" (inf. Dummy - here as a kettle) in 2003, "Kalpak" in 2004, "Stand-up sock" in 2005.

The subject of the year 2006, "REAL self-portrait" is linked with the personality of the modern artist, the way he can represent "hidden traits of his character", and artistic methods he chooses as adequate for this. And generally, the place he chooses for himself in social and political processes occurring in our region - as off-site observer, philosopher, reporter, anonymous manufacturer of artistic goods, an active participant of social life, as a genius, misunderstood by all, suffering from market relations, as a successful art-businessman etc.

4.AIM:

Creation of informal, ironical mood, making for appearance of fresh, uncommon ideas and works of art at the interfaces between traditional and modem art. Giving the opportunity for young artists to show their worth, and for the well-known - to share experience.

À synthesis of traditional and cultural (city, folk) values and modem artistic techniques.

5. DURATION:

Basic stages

publication of the contest terms, December 1st 2005;

registration of the participants and reception of works, until March 28;

mounting of the exposition, march 28 - April 1st 2006;

presentation of the works, rewarding the winners, April 1st 2006; dismantling of the exhibition, April 7, 2006;

work over a CD - the catalogue and calendar, until September 1st, 2006; issue of the calendar for the year 2007 - November 2006.

6. REALIZATION:

Place - Art Museum, Bishkek.

Participants - professional artists, architects, designers, craftsmen, students of art schools from Bishkek, Alma-Ata, Tashkent, Chimkent, Novosibirsk...

7. PARÒNERS:

Contest conditions

The contest has 2 phases (preselection and taking part in the contest-exhibition).

Project presentation - April 1^st, 16-00 in "the glass hall" of the Art Museum, Bishkek.

9. RESULTS:

Emerging of à new generation of the artists, giving à stimulus to serious-ironic, artistic apprehension of the realty, search of original artistic findings, and the possibility for experimentation.
